And so, we finally get a PERFECT weekend (as least with regards to the weather) and I have to work. I knew it was coming, and it's not a horrible thing, but still... it's pretty out there (ok, and I can enjoy it in here as well, what with the sun-room and the windows being open and all)
Did errands and outside play-time yesterday before setting up to work from home. SWEET (if ugly) setup if I do say so myself. workin' on the laptop in the living room (sadly on a wire, not wireless) with my ergonomic keyboard attached (as work is MUCH easier with the numeric keypad) with dvds in the player and snacks here on the table. Is all good! At some point I'm going to have to fill out my timesheet with how much time I worked yesterday, but it's gonna be a guess at best because it was "work a bit, play a bit" and I didn't keep super-close attention. Also had several delightful interludes with phone calls from far-away friends.
But things aren't working. Not the way they are supposed to. For reasons that pass my understanding, calls to subroutines are corrupting large swaths of my available variables and this is VERY bad. Attempts to isolate the offending code in "test" programs are, of course, netting perfectly working results, so I'm thinking it's something in the uber-complex set-up of this particular set of programs. Have requested help (and will be getting it!) from one of our gurus at work.
In the meantime, I'm supposed to be walking out the door to have lunch and visit an art-fair with mom, and I've not yet showered and the clothes I hope to wear today are still in the dryer. Best jump, with luck I'll only be a half-hour late.
Of course, since this is all still unresolved I'll be working again when I get home tonight.... what fun!
(no sympathy needed for the work, I don't mind the occasional weekend of work, and I saw this one coming a LOOONG time off. I'm not upset about that at all. I am mildly annoyed at this weird "corrupting of the variables" error which is preventing me from testing the logic of my program. THAT'S the annoying part!!! (and that figuring out what is wrong with it is really beyond my abilities, and thus I have to rely on others) (others who, it must be said, are QUITE dedicated and willing to give up parts of their weekends to help, with no notice whatsoever) |
